Earth and Air
A warm August evening, the marsh buzzes with life, the aroma of marsh mint, a lone marsh harrier gracefully surveys the margins on the dense reed beds. curlews call out, coot chicks cry for their mother…huge flocks of starlings fly in long bands back to their nightly roost, swallows and reed buntings twitter all around me….spiders are busy building their webs and the hum of gnats slowly takes over…
On the cycle ride back I have to carefully avoid all slugs and frogs on the shell path whilst covering my mouth and nose with my hand as protection from the gnat swarms….
